FIRE CONTROL EQUIPMENT

1. Rangefinder Hahn 1,25 m
The optical Hahn 1,25 m was the first rangefinder within Finland's antiaircraft artillery. NH1

2. Rangefinder Goerz 2,0 m
This stereotype rangefinder had also a mechanical calculator. It was possible to get targets distance and altitude. Goerz-rangefinder was officient with such older central predictors as Vickers. NH2

3. Searchlights
Before radars a succesful anti-aircraft fire required good visibility. There were two types of searchlights. The highpower searchlight, witch was aimed at the target according to fire control information. When the target was within firing distance, the light was turned on. The smaller monitoring searchlight was used to follow target. NH2

4. Sound Locator
Sound locators were used together with searchlights. In good weather it was possible to hear the airplane at a 25km -distance. There are two types seen in showroom 2: Austrian Goerz m/39 and Finnish Strömberg m/43. NH2

5. Predictor Vickers m/34 V
Because of agricultural overproduction of the butter after the 1930s depression, there was opportunity to buy new weapon from UK. Along with artillery, six Vickers predictors were bought in 1936. This equipment was reliable and it was used during WW2. NH1

6. Predictor Gamma-Juhasz
12 predictors were built in Finland. The first three were assigned to Turku in 1941. NH2

7. Predictor Puazo 3
Finland bought Soviet Puazo 3 predictors from Germany. Puazo 3 was a copy of the Škoda predictor and it was used with 75mm Škoda cannons. NH2

8. Predictor Delta m/35
Delta predictors were used with German 88mm RMB cannons. After wars equipments were modernized in Finland. NH1

9. Predictor Lambda m/40
Three predictors arrived to Finland in 1943. Lambda was the best anti-aircraft predictor in that time. It could be used with "Irja" radar. NH2

10. Fire control radar "Irja"
Six German fire control radars (Würzburg D) were imported in 1943. These radars were a great improvement compared to the old sound locators and searchlight systems. NH2

11. Fire control radar "Severi"
Six British radars were purchased in 1954. They were used in the heavy patteries and could follow a target automatically at 36km distance. NH1
